Alimosho, Hon. Adebanjo And The Dividends Of Democracy

When citizens troop out to cast their votes during elections, a major desire is usually to see the candidate that eventually emerges ensure they enjoy the dividends of democracy.
One of the many areas where such dreams have come to past is the Alimosho Federal Constituency after voting Hon. Olufemi Bamidele Adebanjo as their House of Representatives member at the 9th National Assembly.

Having delivered his electoral promises to the people of Alimosho during his first stint at the 8th Assembly, Hon Adebanjo was again voted to serve in the 9th Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and true to word; the dividends delivered to the people have been enormous.

Popularly known has ‘Eyes Open’ by the is numerous fans and supporters, Hon. Adebanjo has in the last one year has completed quite a number of project along the major cardinal points of humanity which are welfare, education, youth empowerment and development, basic social amenities and many more. Several other projects are also nearing completion.

To mention just a few, some of the social amenities projects embarked upon and completed by the politician and philanthropist include, the erection and completion of health center at Badore town;; the installation of solar street lights at Iyana Ipaja road beside Rauf Aregbesola market, Oki road in Iyana Ipaja roundabout and five other streets in Akowonjo and Egbeda respectively; as well as the drilling of several solar powered bore-holes within grassroot communities in Alimosho

Hon. Adebanjo has also shown his commitment to educational development in the Alimosho Federal Constituency. The construction of new block of classrooms at Anglican Primary school Akesan; donation of school furniture to junior secondary schools in Alimosho; provision of jamb forms for indigent students in the constituency; and support for school fees and acceptance fees for students are some of the ways he has demonstrated his desire for educational for all in Alimosho.

Furthermore, his footprints can be felt in empowerment of citizens in Alimosho. Hon. Adebanjo has embarked on projects such as training of youths and women on fish farming; support for small and medium scale enterprises and many more.

It would be agreed that the year 2020 posed a new challenge for people all around the world with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic which forced a lockdown for several months and thereby inflicting unexpected hardship on citizens and their means of livelihood.

During the heat of the coronavirus lockdown, Hon. Adebanjo once again came to the rescue in Alimosho Federal constituency distributing safety kits, food palliatives and cash relief packages to several thousands of families in his constituency with special consideration for widows and the aged. This is coupled with several of his welfare programmes in the area.

In further demonsistration of his commitment to his people, the lawmaker has raised several motions in favour of Alimosho at the National Assembly. At a plenary proceeding of the House of Representatives in July this year, Hon. Adebanjo showed his commitment to the safety of lives and properties in his constituency, when he laid a petition based on some complaints pertaining a pipeline fire disaster that in July 2019 as a result vandalism.

Other bills sponsored by ‘Eyes Open’ at the National Assembly include; a Bill to establish an institute of health care management, Motion on water pollution occasioned by fuel spillage at the Baruwa axis of Alimosho and the Motion to amend the National Human Rights Commission Act 2004 to enable creation of employment opportunities for the youths.

A brief visit to the Alimosho area reveals that, the philanthropist still has a lot in stock for the community as we discovered so many yet to be completed but ongoing projects by ‘Eyes open’. Some of these include; Construction of a maternity home at Ogunlana and the solar powered borehole at Oki town and several communities.

With all these projects delivered to his constituency and the people who voted him to serve in such a short time, one can indeed say that Hon. Olufemi Bamidele Adebanjo is setting a standard for other s to follow. It is then left to be imagined what other dividends may be enjoyed if he spends more time serving the people of Alimosho Federal Constituency.
