When McLaren Racing announced the signing of a promising 13-year-old karting Champion, Ugo Ugochukwu on a long-term agreement, the name which originated of the Igbo tribe in Nigeria immediately set many African enthusiasts wondering who the young man is and who his parents are.
Ugochukwu was born in New York on 23 April, 2007 to Nigerian super-model mother, Oluchi Onweagba-Orlandi and Italian Fashion Designer Luca Orlandi.
Last year, Ugochukwu won the FIA OK Junior European championship and was also crowned the FIA European karting champion.
He has several other accolades to his name such as 2018 COTA JR Champion, 2017 All S M X30 Champion, 2015 FWT MM Champion and 2014 MR US Champion.
He has stepped up to the senior OK category for the 2021 season.

About His Parents
His mother, Oluchi grew up in Lagos and began her super model career on an international level when she won the M-Net ‘Face of Africa’ contest in 1998 at just 17.
She has appeared in advertising campaigns for many top international brands
Beyond modeling, Oluchi tries to serve as a role model for other aspiring talents in Nigeria, especially young girls by volunteering her time and her image for such NGOs as LEAP Africa.
Oluchi was the host and head judge of Africa’s Next Top Model in 2013.
Ugochukwu’s Father, Luca Orlandi is an Italian Fashion Designer who was born in Milan and joined the family textile business which has ran for generations.
Orlandi eventually started his own fashion company LUCA LUCA in 1991 as a ready to wear women’s fashion collection.
Oluchi and Orlandi were firends for a very long time before getting married in 2008. They are blessed with two sons, Hugo (Ugo) and Marco Orlandi who is nine years.
