Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has expressed concern that the the 2023 elections may not hold should the current state of insecurity in the country continues to rise.

Ortom sounded the warning on Tuesday when he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, just three days after he was attacked by herdsmen.

Speaking State House correspondents shortly after the meeting held behind closed doors, the Benue State governor said there was no way Nigerians could be talking of the 2023 elections without first securing the country.

Ortom who narrowly escaped assassination on Saturday when herdsmen attacked him on his farm near Makurdi also slammed those who claim he stage-managed the attack on his convoy.
