Ghana Gets Twitter Africa HQ Ahead Nigeria

Twitter Africa HQ

Micro-blogging site Twitter, has picked Ghana for the establishment of its Africa head quarters ahead of Nigeria which prides itself as the commercial capital of the continent.

Co-founder pf the company, Jack Dorsey made the announcement on Twitter on Monday.

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo also confirmed that announcement on Twitter,  while further revealing that he and Mr Dorsey had been involved in a remote meeting last week.

Bookmakers would have easily predicted Twitter choosing countries with more established tech hubs like Nigeria, Kenya or South Africa.

But Mr Dorsey said in his Twitter blog that Ghana’s recent appointment to host The Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area “aligns with our overarching goal to establish a presence in the region that will support our efforts to improve and tailor our service across Africa”.
