PoemsOfCAMA: Safe In Your Hands

Blood hands

When I took the pills of sorrow I bought myself
Your unflinching pint of blood was my safety tent
Only you, Ademiju
You were the one bold enough to stay

I rocked on the lullaby you dutifully strung
Your hands, always the therapy for my being

And if death finds me before my finish line
I’m sure my life is safe with you

And smiles will be all I owe the earth.
