A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Crown Foundation has supported 10 petty traders in the Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) with cash grants.
The traders who were selected randomly on Thursday during crown foundation’s surprise tour of the Ojodu LCDA got cash support of ten thousand naira (10,000) each to boost their various businesses.
Speaking to Crown Media shortly after distributing the grants, the Founder/Chairman of Crown foundation Mr. Femi Awoseye said the NGO embarked on the tour to support the less priviledge in the society.
Mr. Awoseye noted that with Nigeria’s present economic challenges, it has become difficult for the poor and needy to get by and therefore, the need to help them stay on their feet.
He further noted that the cash donations to petty traders within the range of the grant, was to help them expand their businesses, while also boosting their hope in the society.
Reacting after receiving her grant, a beneficiary Beatrice Benson who sells roasted plantian in the Ojodu area of Lagos stated that the gesture by Crown Foundation has restored her confidence in the Nigerian Society while also calling on other meaning Nigerians to emulate the NGO.
Benson added that the grant would go a long way in developing her business.
Five traders-all elderly women- were selected five apiece from the Ojodu and Oke-Ira areas of Ojodu LCDA.
90 more petty traders would be randomly selected for such grants before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Crown Foundation also plans to feed Hundreds of less priviledged Nigerians within Ikeja in Crown Foundation Annual Thanksgiving scheduled to hold this 28th December, 2021.
